Plan Your School's Visit

The Virginia Living Museum wants your class to have the best visit possible. Our science programs are SOL-correlated and grade-level targeted. The programs are endorsed by the Virginia Department of Education, U.S. Department of Education and National Science Foundation.

Programs
Self Guided Visits

Schedule a self-guided visit of exhibits that feature more than 500 live animals and plants, native to Virginia, in their natural settings.

Natural Science

Natural science programs offer elementary students an introduction to various topics in the life sciences—from animal adaptations to the importance of green plants to the study of snakes.

Planetarium/Space Science

In the museum planetarium, students in grades K-12 visit the planets, travel to a black hole, observe spinning galaxies or study the earth from space.

Environmental Science Labs

Environmental science labs are in-depth sessions in which middle and high school students actively participate in conducting experiments, collecting data and analyzing results.

Science Safaris

Science Safaris, for high school students, are combined laboratory and field classes that stress field study, experimentation, data collection and analysis.

Have VLM Visit Your School

Outreach programs are specially designed, SOL-correlated presentations in your school classroom or auditorium.

Discovery Boxes

Discovery boxes are "museum-in-a-trunk" traveling curriculum modules that teachers use in their own classrooms.

Teacher Training

The Virginia Living Museum's Teacher Training Institute provides outstanding SOL-correlated, grade-level targeted training programs in life, environmental and earth science for teachers of grades K-12.
