Results of AZA membership survey
Between January and March 2010, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) did a national survey for their member organizations, like the Virginia Living Museum. They surveyed 23,461 members of zoos and aquariums, including a random sample of 300 from the VLM’s membership. Thank you to all who participated.
The results? Overall, our members were more positive about the VLM than others about their local zoos and aquariums. Here is a summary of the numbers for the VLM:
64% of members visit 4 or more times a year
10% visit 10+ times
87% had a very favorable opinion of the VLM
12% somewhat favorable
VLM members are pleased with their membership and 84% think membership is a good value.
96% are most likely to renew their membership and would recommend it to others

Our members would take action on behalf of the VLM
92% would sign a petition
73% would write a letter
64% would attend a meeting
96% agree that the VLM is important to quality of life in the community
