There are a variety of ways for individuals, and businesses, to contribute to the Virginia Living Museum:

  • Opportunity Fund
Thanks to an amazing $6 million challenge grant by an anonymous donor and the generous outpouring of support from area families, businesses and foundations, the Virginia Living Museum raised $3 million during 2009 to meet the Dec. 31, 2009 deadline to pay off the construction loan from its 2004 Capital Campaign.

  • Individual Annual Fund
Individual support enables the Museum to care for more than 245 native species of animals and educate more than 60,000 children a year.

  • Corporate Partnerships
Businesses are vital partners in all our endeavors. Corporate annual support enables our growth as a major educational and cultural attraction. Event sponsorships offer businesses marketing opportunities with the Museum.

  • Capital Campaign
The Virginia Living Museum began a $5 million Gateway to Nature Capital Campaign in 2007. The campaign is designed to unify the Museum campus, add attractions to increase visitation, grow education programming, update technology and create interactions with nature and the environment that inspire conservation and learning. The Museum suspended the capital campaign in 2009 to take advantage of the amazing opportunity presented by an anonymous donor to pay off the debt remaining from the 2004 capital campaign.

  • Pilings and Pavers
You can help support the Museum through the purchase of a commemorative plaque (PDF) on a piling along the boardwalk ($1,000), or a personalized paver (PDF) along the Museum's entrance walkway ($150).

  • Specific Program Giving
You can support the Museum through on-line shopping, memorial gifts to commemorate a loved one or through special programs throughout the year.

  • Adopt a Wild Thing
Help pay for the food, shelter and care for your own special animal friend.

  • Animal Aid Club
Animal lovers of all ages can participate in projects that help feed our animals.

  • Planned Giving
Invest in the future of the Museum by including the Virginia Living Museum in your estate plan.  Your bequest will provide lasting support and ensure our programs succeed far into the future.

  • Fufill a Wish
Support the Museum by donating a much needed item from our very long Wish List. We are always in need of and graciously accept specific items for animal care, support and administration. Some of thiese items might surprise you!
