Virginia Living Museum
Specific Program Giving
We invite you to take an even greater role in advancing the Virginia Living Museum’s mission to educate by becoming a donor. Giving a gift to the Museum provides important support to our exhibits and educational programs. Gifts of all amounts are important and greatly appreciated. The Museum is a non-profit organization and your contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Please consult your tax advisor for further information.
There are a variety of easy ways for individuals, and businesses, to contribute through specific programs:
Memorial Gardens
Donations made in memory of loved ones help maintain our native plant gardens. We accept memorial gifts in any amount. The names are entered into the Museum's Book of Commemoration. Acknowledgements can be sent to the family upon request.
Capital One Support the Museum Credit Card
Turn your everyday spending into meaningful donations. With our personalized credit card, 1% of every purchase, 2% of gas and grocery purchases, and up to 10% of purchases made at select merchants—plus a $50 first-purchase bonus—will be donated to our organization. Click here for more info...
GuideStar

You can also donate on the Internet through GuideStar, which will distribute your donation directly to the Virginia Living Museum. GuideStar was created in 1994 by Philanthropic Research, Inc. to provide information that enables users to make better decisions and encourages charitable giving. Donations can be made in any amount.
Internet Shopping
Turn your everyday shopping into philanthropy by doing your online shopping at a few different locations: iGive, ShopforMuseums and OneCause. Simply select the Virginia Living Museum as your cause, register with the site and shop. There is no charge to you at all, but the VLM receives a portion of each purchase.
iGive has more than 230 stores in its Mall. Up to 15% of each purchase will go to the Virginia Living Museum. Companies participating include: Amazon.com, CDNow, Barnes & Noble, JCPenney, Dell, Eddie Bauer, Gap and more.
ShopforMuseums.com is a similar site with 125 merchants selling toys, gifts, apparel and computers. Companies participating include: Lands' End, Martha Stewart, Hallmark, Office Max and Border's. Rebates to the museum vary by merchant, and range from 2% to 7% of each purchase.
(formerly Schoolpop.com) is a similar site with hundreds of national merchants selling a variety of products. One Cause tracks your donations for you and has its own credit card.
