Weekend Safaris

Explore the near and far wonders of nature on a safari with the Virginia Living Museum. Travel with us to discover the enchantment and beauty of our natural world. Our safaris offer you and your family an excellent opportunity to visit places you may not see on your own—even to sites not ordinarily open to the public.

Sharing Nature Together

Three-year-olds along with a parent or grandparent are introduced to nature through creative activities.

Early Birds

Preschoolers enjoy crafts, stories, music, and other creative activities as they learn about nature. Both morning and afternoon sessions are offered. Children must be four years old by the first class meeting.

Nature Adventure Club

After-school programs provide non-stop adventure for children from kindergarten to third grade. They can see what goes on "behind-the-scenes" and complete wildlife projects.

Wild Space Adventures

Fourth and fifth graders can explore the wonders of outer space in this Wednesday afternoon program.

Winter/Spring Break Camps

The museum offers Spring Break and Winter Break Programs for children in grades K-3. Children will enjoy exploring nature's secrets at the museum.

Astro Camp-Ins

Groups spend Friday night at the museum learning about all things celestial. Or try our new Saturday evening program.

Summer Fun for Kids

Children ages four through grade 6 can meet live, touchable animals, explore the museum and enjoy crafts and other activities in week-long  (full and half day) summer programs that explore nature and space.

Summer Field Adventures

Rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders can spend an exciting, fun-filled week exploring nature with the museum's Summer Field Adventure. This summer spend a week (July 23-27) in the Appalachian Mountains with museum biologists.
