Career opportunities at the Virginia Living Museum require a variety of levels of training, experience and education. The museum has both full-time career positions with benefits and part-time positions without benefits. Positions at the museum are in the following areas: Animal Husbandry/Biology, Astronomy, Aquariums, Custodial, Development, Education, Exhibits, Finance, Herpetology, Horticulture, Maintenance, Marketing/Public Relations, Museum Store, Visitor Services and Volunteer Services. Benefits

The Virginia Living Museum offers a comprehensive benefits package for regular, full-time staff and their eligible dependents, which includes medical and dental insurance (cost-sharing involved), as well as term life insurance, long term disability insurance, flexible spending accounts and a 403 (B) tax sheltered annuity plan.

The Museum offers paid vacations, sick leave and holiday pay to all regular, full-time staff. The amount of the vacation to which an employee is entitled depends upon length of service from anniversary date.  

Internships
College students interested in gaining knowledge in the fields of Biology, Marine Biology or Development are invited to inquire about internships at the VLM. We offer unpaid internships providing the opportunity for hands-on experience within our Aquarium Care, Herpetology and Development areas.
