| Celebrate groundhog day with a family fun evening at the Virginia Living Museum |
Tradition says if the groundhog sees his shadow on Feb. 2, we’ll have six more weeks of winter. Help celebrate groundhogs and winter Friday, Feb. 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Virginia Living Museum, Newport News.
See a live groundhog and hear some interesting facts.
Make a shadow puppet with Rainbow Puppets, then watch their show “Creatures and Shadows” at 7 p.m.
View the night sky with coffee from Starbucks (while supplies last) in the Abbitt Observatory (weather permitting).
Enjoy space science fun.
Explore the unique and mysterious world of caves as you preview the museum’s newest exhibit, “Caves: A Fragile Wilderness.” This exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service contains 39 amazing color photographs taken by members of the National Speleological Society. The exhibition opens Feb. 3 and runs through April 1.
Also, take a guided tour of the museum’s Virginia Underground cave.
The museum is located at 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, I64, exit 258A.
Evening admission is $7 adults and $5 children (ages 3-12). Members are free.
