| Virginia Living Museum names development director |
The Virginia Living Museum announces the appointment of Carolyn Cuthrell of Newport News as development director.
Cuthrell, who has 16 years of experience in marketing and development, comes to the museum from Christopher Newport University where she was the director of the Office of Communications and Public Relations.
Previously she was the communications officer for the Virginia Performing Arts Foundation. Before that she spent 14 years as director of community services/marketing for HCA Richmond Hospitals where she managed more than $8 million in corporate philanthropy.
Cuthrell holds a B.S. in education from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md., and has done graduate work in human development, also at the University of Maryland.
“Carolyn brings outstanding experience and talents to the position as well as a passion for our mission of science and environmental education,” said museum Executive Director Page Hayhurst
Cuthrell will be responsible for directing the museum’s ongoing fundraising efforts, plus supervising membership, special events, facility rentals and grant writing.
She replaces Myra Legg who is relocating to Richmond but will continue to work with the museum as a consultant.
