Part time, to 30 hours per week, year-round (50 weeks)
General Statement of Duties
Under the supervision of the Director of Education, the Science Educator III is responsible for developing and teaching a wide variety of natural history classes for children ages 3-12 including, but not limited to, classes for preschoolers (ages 4-5), after school programs, school break programs, occasional weekend and evening special event programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in life sciences or elementary education.
- Strong background in the natural sciences and/or environmental education.
- Knowledge of early childhood development.
- Early childhood teaching and program development experience.
- Teaching certification preferred.
- Teaching experience in a museum, nature center or similar educational facility desired.
- Willingness to handle a wide variety of live program animals, experience preferred.
- Good physical condition. Requires standing and walking. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and teach after school children’s programs (ages 6-12).
- Develop and teach preschool programs. (ages 3-5).
- Develop and teach summer children's workshops, school break and special event programs as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
