Sharing Nature Together (3 Year Olds & a Caregiver)

Sharing NatureEnjoy five weeks of early learning for your three-year-old and YOU! Learning is much more meaningful and rewarding for very young children when they can share their new adventures with a caring parent or grandparent. The Museum's early childhood programs feature age appropriate activities, role playing, live animals and interesting specimens from our collections to stimulate and engage young minds. Don't miss this wonderful chance to share time and nature together. Class size is limited. No siblings are allowed.

Fee: $95 per session VLM member, $115 non-member
When: Tuesdays from 10am-11am

"Colors in Nature"
Sept. 11 - Oct. 9
Find red ladybugs, green frogs and black skunks (just to name a few). Join us as we explore the rainbow of colors in our natural world.


Sharing Nature

"Shapes in Nature" 
Oct. 30 - Dec. 4 (no class Nov. 20)
Take a close-up look at plants and animals as we search for shapes and patterns. We'll find heart-shaped faces, round eyes and triangular scales.

Nature Adventure Club (Kindergarten - Grade 3)         

Join the best wild animal club in town!

Become a member of the Living Museum's Nature Adventure Club . . . join the Raccoon or Fox patrol for five weeks of non-stop fun and adventure. Each patrol will explore a variety of natural science themes designed to engage and stimulate the young scientist in your child.


Fee: $98 per session VLM member, $120 non-member

How do animals learn about their environment?  By using their senses! Each week, we’ll learn about one of the five senses.

"Getting to Know Opossums"
Oct. 29 - Dec. 3 (no class Nov. 19)
It’s time to learn all about opossums. From being a mammal to raising their young in a pouch, each week we’ll learn an interesting fact about our mascot.

Get acquainted with reptiles and amphibians.  We’ll discover what it means to be cold blooded and see how these animals are alike and different.

What are Mustelids? Learn all about this weasly family of mammals and why they are sometimes difficult to study.

"Nature's Greatest Inventions"
Nov. 10, 9:30 a.m. - noon 
Body armor, Velcro, camouflage, and more - explore what man has invented by observing the natural world and its animals and plants.
Fee: $34 VLM member, $42 non-member


"The Critter - Crime Connection"

Jan. 19, 9:30 a.m. - noon REGISTRATION CLOSED
Investigate mysterious happenings using microscopes and forensic clues from nature.
Fee: $34 VLM member, $42 non-member


"The Monarchs are Coming"

March 9, 9:30 a.m. - noon
Welcome the monarch butterflies back and have fun learning about their remarkable 1,800-mile journey through games, crafts and more.
Fee: $34 VLM member, $42 non-member


"Exploring the Chesapeake Bay"
May 4, 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. REGISTRATION CLOSED
Journey to the beach for an up-close investigation of water and beach critters and to discover what makes the Chesapeake Bay a national treasure. Bring a snack and a lunch.
Fee: $58 VLM member, $68 non-member.
