Planetarium Usher

 

Purpose: To enhance the Museum visitor’s understanding and appreciation of our universe.

Duties: 

• Control entrance of guests into the theater as directed by Planetarium staff.
• Take tickets and direct visitors into the planetarium area.
• Assist visitors in finding seats before the show and in exiting after the show.
• Provide visitors with information about the theater, its equipment, programs, and rules of conduct.
• Assist visitors with small children. (see guidelines for “Children in Theater”)
• Assist staff with special events
• Provide other support as directed by Astronomy Curator.

Qualifications:

• Completed at least one year of high school, at least age 15.
• Interest in astronomy.
• An enthusiastic, outgoing personality.
• Able to give directions in a respectful, but yet authoritative, manner.
  
• Familiarity with multimedia helpful but not required.
• Willingness to initiate interactions with visitors.
• Dependable.
• Able to display discernment when dealing with the public.

• New Volunteer Orientation
