Planetarium Usher
Purpose: To enhance the Museum visitor’s understanding and appreciation of our universe.
Duties:
- Control entrance of guests into the theater as directed by Planetarium staff.
- Take tickets and direct visitors into the planetarium area.
- Assist visitors in finding seats before the show and in exiting after the show.
- Provide visitors with information about the theater, its equipment, programs, and rules of conduct.
- Assist visitors with small children. (see guidelines for “Children in Theater”)
- Assist staff with special events
- Provide other support as directed by Astronomy Curator.
Qualifications:
- Completed at least one year of high school, at least age 15.
- Interest in astronomy.
- An enthusiastic, outgoing personality.
- Able to give directions in a respectful, but yet authoritative, manner.
- Familiarity with multimedia helpful but not required.
- Willingness to initiate interactions with visitors.
- Dependable.
- Able to display discernment when dealing with the public.

- New Volunteer Orientation
- On-the-job training.
