View endangered red wolves. Get up close to a loggerhead turtle and moon jellies. See fish with no eyes and frogs that change colors. Touch live spider crabs and fossilized dinosaur tracks. It’s all at the Virginia Living Museum, Newport News, where living exhibits depict Virginia’s natural heritage from the mountains to the sea. The Museum introduces visitors to more than 250 living species native to Virginia through exhibits, discovery centers and interactive hands-on exhibits.

In the Abbitt Observatory, we safely view the heavens with a variety of instruments, including our 16 inch Meade telescope.

 
Group Tours

The VLM welcomes your group! Our goal is to offer your clients memories that will last a lifetime, in addition to helping you with all the planning and details. We offer a fantastic 2-3 hour tour option to suit groups of all ages and up to 400 visitors at a time.

School Groups
The VLM offers a self-guided visit to school groups, plus hands-on classroom programs in the natural and space sciences. All classes are correlated to Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOLs) and targeted to particular grade levels.
