Fifty photos selected by Daily Press Photo Editor Dennis Tennant will be displayed in the museum’s Changing Exhibit Gallery Nov. 20-28 (museum admission required). Selected photos will then be rotated in the hallway leading to the Wild Side Café through Jan. 31, 2011 (no admission required to see the photos in the hallway).
The photos were selected from more than 500 photos posted by about 60 area photographers who participated in photo walks at the museum in January and October.
“The works of some of the region’s finest amateur photographers are featured in the Daily Press and posted on line but a newspaper or computer screen can’t begin to convey the fine details and subtle colors of the original photographic prints,” says Education Director Chris Lewis. “After marveling at the beauty of the photographs on exhibit in the gallery, museum visitors can see the real animals that inspired the photos.”
The exhibit is supported by a grant from the Newport News Arts Commission.
The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25.
Admission is $17 for adults and $13 for children (ages 3-12). Ages 2 and under are free.
The museum is located at 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, I64, exit 258A.
