April 18-19: Earth Day WeekendVLM Earth Day logo

The Virginia Living Museum celebrates Earth Day with a weekend of special activities for our animals. Watch the animals receive toys, treats and other enrichment activities to stimulate natural behaviors. See the bobcat play with a feather toy, watch the red wolves search for treats hidden in heads of cabbage, and the raccoon finger paint, all part of activities that usually occur behind-the-scenes.

Learn ways to help the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling waste. Several environmental organizations will have displays and information about conservation measures. Among the exhibitors will be the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Ferguson Enterprises, Green Alternatives, Green Foundation, GreencupsUSA,Hampton Land Conservancy, Progressive Graphics, Sierra Club, TFC Recycling, Virginia Natural Gas and Wildlife Response.

The Virginia Dept. of Forestry will give away tree seedlings. Farm Fresh and Aces have donated eco-friendly canvas bags. Other giveaways will also be available.

There will also be crafts for kids, thousands of native plants for sale and special earth-friendly animal shows. Plus, check out a car that runs on vegetable oil. Story time will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Included in regular Museum admission $15 adults, $12 children ages 3-12. Ages 2 and under and members are free.

Thanks to exhibitors: Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Ferguson Enterprises, Green Alternatives, GreencupsUSA, Hampton Land Conservancy, HR Clean/HR Wet, Progressive Graphics, Sierra Club, TFC Recycling, Virginia Natural Gas and Wildlife Response.  The Virginia Department of Forestry has donated tree seedlings.
