Virginia Living Museum salutes veterans with military discount Nov. 11-13, 2011
The Virginia Living Museum in Newport News salutes all members of the military with a special $5 admission discount during Eagle Tribute Weekend Nov. 11-13, 2011.
The discount applies to all active and retired military members and their families. A military ID is required. Regular admission is $17 for adults and $13 for children (ages 3-12). Ages 2 and under are free. Military members also receive a 10 percent discount on museum memberships.
“The museum is honored to recognize the contributions military personnel make to our nation and our community,” said VLM Executive Director Page Hayhurst. “The VLM is dedicated to serving the local community and Hampton Roads is home to one of the nation's largest concentrations of military personnel.”
The museum has two bald eagles on exhibit along its outdoor trail. For Eagle Tribute Weekend, visitors will also be able to see special eagle-related items from the VLM collections, including the mount of an immature eagle, a feather and talons.
Virginia’s natural heritage comes alive at the Virginia Living Museum. The museum introduces visitors to more than 250 living species native to Virginia through exhibits, discovery centers and interactive hands-on exhibits. A visit to the museum brings people in contact with more habitats, wildlife and plant species than would be encountered in a lifetime of outdoor adventures in Virginia.
The museum is located at 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, I64, exit 258A.
Fall hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
