Take a Behind-the-Scenes Look
at the Virginia Living Museum 
Ever wonder what goes on "Behind-the-Scenes" at the Virginia Living Museum? Now is your chance to find out!
Guided by a member of our knowledgeable curatorial staff...journey to areas of the museum where daily visitors are not allowed.
- Animal support areas
- Animal food prep facilities
- Aquarium holding facility
- Reptile support unit
- Salt water mixing area
- Climb to the catwalk above the Chesapeake Bay Aquarium...for a scene few have seen!
Join a small group of visitors for a truly unique experience as you
learn about how the museum operates from the inside out! Take part in a
fish feeding at one of our many habitats. Have your individual
questions answered by the experts in a behind-the- scenes tour catered
to your interests.
Tours last 30 minutes.
Small groups can join regularly scheduled Behind-the-Scenes tours on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 3pm.
Cost: $10 VLM members, $12 non-members (in addition to museum admission).
Groups can also schedule Private Behind-the-Scenes
- Rates: $12 per person in addition to Museum entry (minimum $120 per tour)
- Preferred number in group: 1-10; Maximum 15 per group
- Length of tour: 20-30 Minutes
- Reservations: call our Reservation Coordinator at 757-595-9135 or email reservations
- Advance deposit with signed contract is required. Group tours cannot be conducted on weekends due to staff availability.
- Cash, check or credit card (VISA, MasterCard or Discover) are accepted. Cancellation without penalty is 30 days prior to visit.
- Children need to be under close adult supervision on these tours. Comfortable flat shoes are required.
