Welcome to the Virginia Living Museum

Virginia’s Animal Attraction & Dino Destination

The Virginia Living Museum is a successful public-private partnership, since 1966, between the City of Newport News and the Virginia Living Museum, a public non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (54-6055922). Together we connect people to nature through educational experiences that promote conservation.
BUILT by the Community, BELOVED by the Community and SUSTAINED by the Community, the Museum depends on private donations to succeed. We appreciate your financial contribution to support engaging education, animal welfare and conservation experiences for you and your family. Please consider a gift to our Annual Fund or a planned gift to our Endowment for future sustainability.

Happy Thankful Thursday! Were incredibly thankful for everyone who has donated to our Wild Housewarming so far. Every dollar counts!

Every contribution is vital in providing essential medical supplies for our veterinary clinic, ensuring the best care for our beloved animal residents. Your support directly impacts their well-being! Plus, donations made by May 31 to our board members teams will be DOUBLED by a generous donor, amplifying your impact!

Our Wild Housewarming fundraiser isnt just about our veterinary clinic; its about so much more. Its about building a future where our native species thrive, where every animal has a safe haven, and where compassion is on display every day.

Join the celebration at our Wild Housewarming fundraiser and be a driving force behind the grand opening of our new Wild Care Center later this year!

The middle star of the handle of the Big Dipper is special. Look carefully at that star, and you may notice that you can see not one star, but two, at that location. These are Mizar and Alcor, a visual binary star, meaning that the two stars simply lie along the same line of sight from the Earth. A telescope will reveal something even more amazing, however. Zooming in shows us that the star Mizar is an actual binary star, with two stars orbiting around one another. #VASkies #valivingmuseum ... See MoreSee Less
